The rendezvous was quite an exciting picture; all the friendly Indians and trappers for hundreds of miles around would be there, bringing in their skins and horses to trade, and white men, Indians, squaws and children, to the number of eight hundred or a thousand could often be found there, and sometimes as high as two thousand horses and mules.
