Part II

Crossing The River

JOSHUA 3:9-l0  And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, Come hither, and hear the words of the LORD your God. And Joshua said, Hereby ye shall know that the living God is among you...

Up to now our reading has contented us with seeing GOD accomplishing HIS purpose in "ancient times". We have been brought to the shore. As Israel in the above record had been brought through the wilderness to the shore of the river Jordan gazing across at the "Promised Land", so we have been brought to the shore of the river of faith. The question before us now is will we only stand at the shore and gaze across, never reckoning to ourselves GOD's purpose for our lives, or will we, as they did, "pass clean over"?

"Hereby ye shall know that the living GOD is among you..."

What a blessed place to be! Not a dead god, not one carved from stone standing in a church or painted on canvas hanging on a wall but a "living GOD". A GOD upon whom we depend, a GOD with whom we fellowship and commune. "Let us hear HIS words", let us "pass clean over", let us be "found in Him"!

Israel's "promised land" was one flowing with milk and honey. Ours is one "filled with all the fullness of GOD". The host of the enemy already occupied their "Promised Land", but in ours, Christ has already "ascended up on high" and "led captivity captive".

As Israel had to compass about the enemy, and destroy and defend against them, we have but to "fight the good fight of faith" and enjoy all the riches of HIS glory.

Part II, "Crossing The River", is presented in five segments, so found in the Apostle Paul's prayer in EPHESIANS 1:17-19;

That the GOD of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory,

#1) May give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:

#2) The eyes of your understanding being enlightened

#3) That ye may know what is the hope of his calling

#4) And what is the riches of the glory of his inheritance

#5) And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to usward who believe
